Dick
Hodnefield
Dick Hodnefield and his wife, Gayle, graduated from a square dance class in the spring of 1972 in St. Paul, Minn. In August of that same year, Dick attended a weekend New Caller School. He had no intentions of ever becoming a caller, he just had to know how it worked! By the end of the weekend, he was hooked, and was looking for a turntable and speakers. By September of 1973, he had become the club teacher and caller for three clubs in the St. Paul area. Dick also started his own club, the Spin Chain Gang, which is still one of the largest clubs in the Twin Cities area.
Dick and Gayle and their two children, Curt and Pam, moved to California in June of 1978. Dick started filling in for callers where he could, and in September of 1980 became the class teacher for the Boots and Slippers in Simi Valley. In September of 1981 he began teaching for the Trail Dusters in Calabasas. He still teaches today.
